Established in 1960, Acadia, Calgary is a mature neighborhood in the southeastern part of the city. It is located between the Bow River and Macleod Trail. According to its happy residents, Acadia, Calgary strikes the ideal balance between suburbia and inner-city living. The neighborhood has a quiet atmosphere, but offers easy access to urban amenities and the downtown area.

Acadia, Calgary is a diverse community with a healthy mixture of residential, commercial, and recreational land usage. Major transportation routes that are accessible in Acadia include Blackfoot Trail, Macleod Trail, Deerfoot Trail, and Southland Drive, all of which will lead you quickly downtown and to other areas of the city. The Light Rail Transit (LRT) system is also accessible from Macleod Trail. In other words, Acadia, Calgary is one of the most convenient neighborhoods for young professionals and corporate employees who need to commute downtown every day.

Also, if youíre a shopaholic or foodie, Acadia wonít disappoint. Parallel to Heritage Drive and Macleod Trail, youíll find plenty of shopping facilities and restaurants. Plus, the Chinook Centre Mall isnít too far away, so you wonít have any trouble getting your shopping fix.


Real estate development in Acadia began in the 1960s. Most of the homes in the neighborhood are single family homes, but there are some semi- detached homes, as well. Near the Willow Park Golf & Country Club, there are several lavish properties popular with high-income residents that boast stunning views of the course. Overall, however, real estate in Acadia is affordable and offers excellent value.

Highlights of living in Acadia include its abundance of green space, community parks, and tree-lined streets. The neighborhood also offers views of the Bow River parkland that are nothing short of gorgeous. In addition, there are several hiking and biking trails that run along the edge of the Bow River, allowing residents to stay fit while enjoying the pleasant scenery.

Got kids? If you have children, youíll find that Acadia, Calgary offers all of the amenities you need to keep your kids happy. Acadia is near two leisure centres, where both children and adults can have a blast. For example, the Trico Centre for Family Wellness features a pool, fitness facility, gymnasium, and a host of other amenities. Plus, there are several public schools and separate schools in this community of just over 10,000 people, so you wonít have to travel far to take your kids to school.
