Applewood Park

If you’re looking for a convenient, family-friendly place to live in Calgary, Applewood Park is a good choice. Established in 1979, Applewood Park is a residential area located in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, on the city’s eastern edge. It is a relatively new community where development did not start till 1982.

The Canadian National Railway separates Applewood Park, Calgary from the community of Abbeydale to the north. The eastern boundary of Applewood Park happens to coincide with the eastern boundary of the City of Calgary. The neighborhood’s southern boundary is 17th Avenue S.E., and its western boundary is 68th Street.

Applewood Park is only 10km east from the downtown area, which commuters can access via Memorial Drive or 17th Avenue SE. Residents of Applewood Park appreciate that their neighborhood is well-located, but what really makes the community stand out is its low density residential development. In Applewood Park, you can enjoy spacious living conditions that are reminiscent of suburbia without living far from the city center.

Safe and Family-Friendly

Applewood Park, Calgary is an affordable, quiet community that is conducive to raising children. The population is friendly and diverse, family-oriented activities abound, and the crime rate is low. Another factor that makes Applewood Park a convenient place to raise school-age children is that there are two elementary schools and two high schools in the neighborhood, so your kids don’t have to go far to attend classes.

Applewood Park’s Community Association

In 1986, Applewood Park’s Community Association was incorporated. The past presidents of Applewood Park’s Community Association dreamed of opening a facility where community residents could hang out, and they were finally able to accomplish that when they built a recreational park. The Applewood Park Community Association is dedicated to improving the neighborhood and the lives of its residents. They regularly organize events in the community, such as a children’s Easter egg hunt, family BBQ’s, parades, a Christmas lights contest, a haunted house, and much more. There’s also a community park in Applewood Park, Calgary, and the Community Association is currently working with the City of Calgary to redevelop it. The park will be undergoing major renovation in coming years, so stay tuned for developments.

Applewood Park’s Community Association has lofty goals. By organizing year-round activities and developing outdoor, multi-use facilities, the Applewood Park Community Organization aims to encourage members of the community to be more active and social. So far, they’ve succeeded in their endeavors, as Applewood Park has proven to be a wonderful, tight-knit community and a pleasant place to live.
