Chinook Park, Calgary is a residential neighborhood located in the southwest quadrant of the city. Bounded by Glenmore Trail to the north, Elbow Drive to the east, 14th Street West to the west, and Heritage Drive to the south, Chinook Park boasts an abundance of green space and is thus popular with nature lovers and those who lead an active lifestyle. The community is home to a population of approximately 1,717 people, and its residents have a median income of around $88,000. Less than 20% of the residences in Chinook Park consist of condominiums and apartments, and more than 80% of the residents in the community are homeowners.

Chinook Park, Calgary was developed in 1959. Most of the homes are single family homes and townhomes that were built between the 1950s and the 1970s. The neighborhood is well connected to the city’s major roadways, offering convenient access to the downtown area and other parts of the city. Chinook Park is also close to the shops on Macleod Trail, which offer excellent shopping. In addition, the LRT system is nearby, so residents can enjoy hassle-free commutes.

Parks and Recreation

One of the biggest highlights of living in Chinook Park, Calgary is its nearness to several wonderful parks, such as the Glenmore Reservoir, which boasts regional bike paths, boat docks, and hiking opportunities. Additionally, Heritage Park, which is Canada’s largest living historical village, is located in the neighboring community of Eagle Ridge. The Calgary Golf & Country Club can be accessed via Elbow Drive in the north, and there’s an indoor ice arena on Heritage Drive. There’s also a waterslide beside Macleod Trail.

The community of Chinook Park, Calgary is served by the Chinook Park-Kelvin Grove-Eagle Ridge Community Association, which runs a community centre that’s located next to the Henry Wise Wood High School. The community centre hosts a variety of programs for residents of all ages, including highland dancing, yoga, tennis, soccer, and hockey. There are also plans to establish a community preschool because of the increasing population of young children in the area. Additionally, Chinook Park’s community association hosts special events every year, such as a Halloween party, skating party, an evening dinner and dance, and an annual wingding to conclude the soccer season. Overall, Chinook Park, Calgary is an ideal neighborhood for anyone who’d like to live somewhere with ample green spaces, a quiet atmosphere, and plentiful recreational opportunities.
