Are you in the market for a large, quiet neighborhood that’s well-located, well-off, and well-maintained? Citadel, Calgary is an affluent community located in the northwest quadrant of the city. This large neighborhood has a population of approximately 10,000. It’s a beautiful community with spacious homes that offer panoramic views of both the city and the Rocky Mountains. The neighborhood also features executive estates that overlook a natural ravine and the Hamptons Golf Course.

Location

Citadel, Calgary is conveniently located. Residents have easy access to the Brentwood C-Train Station, the Crowfoot Shopping Centre, and the YMCA fitness centre. Additionally, Citadel is across the highway from the Beacon Hill Shopping district, which features several big box stores.

Residents of Citadel can get to the downtown area or to the mountains for a weekend getaway via Highway 1A. In the future, the city plans for Stoney Trail to pass through the community itself, which will make it even easier for residents to get downtown.

Real Estate

Citadel boasts a diversity of homes, including single family homes, townhouses, condominiums, and luxury estates. It is popular with everyone from first-time buyers to retirees, and it is family-oriented. Formed in 1993, Citadel is a relatively new community. The neighborhood features brick walls, trees, beautiful flowers, and well-maintained parks.

Parks and Recreation

Citadel boasts a high quality of living because it features many pathways that emanate from a large green space that is the neighborhood’s centerpiece. This scenic, central park boasts tennis and basketball courts, soccer pitches, baseball diamonds, an outdoor hockey rink, and ample open spaces. Citadel residents also have easy access to the northwest regional bike path.

Citadel, Calgary does not have its own community centre, but it has an active community association. The Citadel Community Association runs a beautification project to maintain the neighborhood’s parks and gardens, and they regularly host events, including a Stampede Breakfast, a winter gala, and skate parties. The community association also organizes an array of activities and sports for children, adults, and seniors. In addition, Citadel has a Block Watch program, in which residents work together to prevent and reduce crime in the community.

Education

Whether you want to send your child to a public, private, or separate school, there are several educational institutions to choose from in the Citadel, Calgary area. There are also two preschools in the neighborhood that will get your little ones off to a great start.
