Collingwood, Calgary is a residential neighborhood located in the northwest quadrant of the city. Collingwood’s sloping hills, myriad green spaces, and spacious family homes make it a popular place to live among families and anyone else who desires a peaceful, scenic neighborhood. Real estate in Collingwood is coveted and has an average list price of $613,583. There are approximately 2,300 people living in Collingwood.

Real Estate

The majority of Collingwood’s real estate is comprised of single family detached and semi-detached homes, but around 15% of the buildings in the neighborhood are apartments or condominiums. 30% of the homes are occupied by renters.

Location

Collingwood is bound by John Laurie Boulevard and Nose Hill Park to the north, 14th Street W to the west, and Confederation Park and Canmore Park to the south. The community has easy access to major roads, thus allowing for hassle-free commutes. There’s also an LRT line that runs in nearby Brentwood, so public transportation is readily accessible.

Parks and Recreation

When you live in Collingwood, Calgary, the wilderness is literally right at your doorstep. This community is near Nose Hill Park, Confederation Park, and Canmore Park, so in terms of recreation, there’s plenty to do and enjoy. Nose Hill Park, one of the largest municipal parks in Canada and North America, is the ideal spot to escape from the stresses of city life. This quiet park features hiking trails, native grasslands, wildlife, and designated off-leash areas.

Confederation Park is a crescent-shaped park that has tennis courts, pathways, baseball diamonds, playground areas, picnic areas, and more. Confederation Park is also home to a 9-hole municipal golf course that features a driving range. Canmore Park, which is located in the neighboring community of Triwood, has tennis courts, a wading pool, and a toboggan hill.

Calgary is served by the Triwood Community Association, which organizes a senior slo-pitch team, ringette, hockey, figure skating, lacrosse, and other activities out of its community centre. The community centre also houses a preschool and before and after school programs.

Education

Collingwood, Calgary has a large population of families with children. There are several public and separate schools in the area, including the Banff Trail Bilingual Elementary, Collingwood Elementary, Senator Patrick Burns Junior High, and St. Francis Senior High. Collingwood is also a popular neighborhood among university students because of its proximity to the University of Calgary.
