Cougar Ridge, Calgary is a residential neighborhood located in the southwest quadrant of the city. This community is perched atop a hillside, so it offers stunning views of both the city and the mountains. Cougar Ridge was annexed by the city of Calgary in 1995 and established in 2001. It is located in the former East Springbank area under the Municipal District of Rockyview. The neighborhood has a population of nearly 4,400.

Real Estate

Cougar Ridge features a diverse mix of architectural styles, including Georgian, Colonial, Victorian, Tudor, and Craftsman. There are around 1,800 homes in the neighborhood, in addition to 150 condo units. The real estate in Cougar Ridge, Calgary varies in cost, with prices starting at around $400,000 for a home and $300,000 for a townhouse or condo. The homes in Cougar Ridge, Calgary are luxurious and many of them are located in quiet cul-de-sacs. Most of them are relatively new, but there are also some historic developments in the area, such as Olympic Village, which is located in the northeast corner of the neighborhood atop Broadcast Hill, overlooking the Bow River.

Amenities and Recreation

When you live in Cougar Ridge, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy the outdoors because of the carefully planned green spaces, playgrounds, and parks in the neighborhood. Furthermore, the community’s pathway system leads to a nearby wetland. Cougar Ridge is only walking distance away from Canada Olympic Park, which was the venue of the 1988 Winter Olympics and is now used as a centre for training and recreational use.

Cougar Ridge, Calgary is bordered by Paskapoo Slopes to the north. The Paskapoo Slopes are a significant archaeological and cultural site featuring an abundance of wildlife, forests, grasslands, and natural ravines. The area is also home to pathways that connect to various amenities and attractions, in addition to the city’s core.

Cougar Ridge residents can get their shopping done just minutes away at the West Hills Town Centre, which features a 10-screen multiplex cinema. In addition, Cougar Ridge offers easy access to the Trans-Canada Highway, which you can take to go to the Rockies on the weekend. In Bragg Creek, which is located just a half hour west of Cougar Ridge, you can go cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Designated schools for children and teens living in Cougar Ridge, Calgary include Wildwood Elementary, Vincent Massey Junior High, and Ernest Manning Senior High.
