Cranston, Calgary, which is located in the southeast quadrant of the city, is one of the most desirable suburbs in Calgary. In the early 1900s, Cranston was a homestead settled by a single family. In fact, the neighborhood was named after that family, the Cranstons. Today, it’s a large neighborhood with over 3,600 single family homes and 531 condos and townhomes. It is undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous communities in Calgary, with its spectacular mountain scenery, abundant green spaces, and lush river valley.


Cranston, Calgary is perched on a ridge above the Bow River Valley. It is bounded by Marquis de Lorne Trail to the north, Fish Creek Park to the west, Bow River to the south, and Deerfoot Trail to the east. Deerfoot Trail offers convenient access to the downtown area. Nature is practically your next door neighbor when you live in Cranston because Bow River and Fish Creek Park are just minutes away. Furthermore, residents of Cranston, Calgary can enjoy stunning views of the mountains on the horizon.

Cranston’s homes were developed with today’s active families in mind. There are three kilometers of pathways that wind through the community, connecting to various tot lots and parks. At the end of Cranleigh Gate, Cranston residents can access the regional pathway system.

Real Estate

Cranston features a mix of estate, move up, and entry level homes. Many of the homes offer amazing views of the Bow River Valley because of the neighborhood’s location on an escarpment overlooking the river. Developed by Carma, Cranston’s homes are generally newer and larger in comparison to homes in other parts of Calgary, but there are residences available to suit a wide range of preferences and budgets in the community. Cranston has a population of approximately 9,140 residents.


In the heart of Cranston, Calgary, you’ll find the Cranston Market, which offers a variety of stores and services for residents. Other amenities in Cranston include Century Hall, a community facility that features multiple meeting and banquet rooms, a gated park, and a gymnasium. The seven-acre gated park is home to basketball courts, playgrounds, a hockey rink, tennis courts, and a water park.

Parks and Recreation

In addition to the recreational facilities at Century Hall, Cranston offers plentiful opportunities for fun in the outdoors. There are over 30 acres of green space in the neighborhood itself, and residents have quick access to Fish Creek Park and Chinook Nature Park. Fish Creek Park offers bird watching, hiking, and other recreational opportunities, while Chinook Nature Park has ponds, grasslands, forests, shrubs, and abundant wildlife.
