Discovery Ridge, Calgary is a residential neighborhood located in southwest Calgary. The neighborhood was developed in the late 1990s.
Discovery Ridge is an affluent community of nearly 4,000 residents. Most of the homes in the neighborhood are single family detached homes
and estate homes, and none of them are occupied by renters.
Discovery Ridge, Calgary boasts a wonderful selection of spacious single family homes, as well as some new mid-rise and villa-style
condominiums. The lots are professionally landscaped, and there are several luxurious upgrades and amenities available to residents. With
prices in the high-mid range, real estate in Discovery Ridge is affordable in comparison to other west-end Calgary neighborhoods. Prices for
homes in Discovery Ridge start at around $500K, while prices for mid-rise condos start at just under $300K.
Discovery Ridge, Calgary is located on the western edge of the city. It is bounded by Glenmore Trail to the north, 69th Street W to the east,
Rocky View County to the west, and Elbow River and Tsuu T’ina first nation reserve to the south. Because of its location bordering the Elbow River
Valley and the Griffith Woods Natural Environmental Park, Discovery Ridge is close to scenic, open spaces and boasts panoramic views of the
Rocky Mountains and Foothills.
If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, Discovery Ridge is a great choice because it’s located near extensive hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails.
Furthermore, the chances of Discovery Ridge becoming over developed are slim because it is adjacent to Griffith Woods Natural Environmental
Park, a scenic park that consists of 93 hectares of natural woodlands.
Amenities and Recreation
Discovery Ridge, Calgary is only a short drive away from the downtown area, where residents can enjoy myriad shopping, entertainment, and
dining venues. Other amenities near the community include Sierra Square, a nine-store community strip mall at the entrance to Richmond Hill,
and West Hills Towne Centre, the area’s largest shopping venue. In addition, there’s another shopping centre north of West Hills called Signal
Hill Shopping Centre, and it features a library, Superstore, and Zellers.
Discovery Ridge’s main park is located off of Sierra Morena Boulevard. The park will eventually be home to a community centre, public school,
soccer fields, and other amenities; it currently has basketball courts and beach volleyball courts. Discovery Ridge is also just minutes away from
three golf courses and the Westside Recreation Centre, a facility featuring fitness equipment, a gym, a skating rink, and other amenities.
