Dover, Calgary is a residential neighborhood located in southeast quadrant of the city. The area was annexed by the city of Calgary in 1961 and
established as a neighborhood in 1971. Dover was named after Mary Dover, a historic alderman, environmentalist, and the daughter of A.E. Cross, one
of Calgary’s most successful businessmen in the city’s early days.
Dover, Calgary is a popular place to live because of its proximity to major transportation routes, the Bow River Valley, schools, and industrial parks with job opportunities. The neighborhood has a population of around 10,500 people, and nearly 70% of them are homeowners.
Location
Dover is bounded by 26th Ave S to the north, Peigan Trail to the south, 24th Street and Deerfoot Trail to the west, and 36th Street E to the east. The communities of West Dover and Dover Glen are located on the west side of Dover. Dover is close to 17th Avenue, which features various shops and restaurants. In addition, nearby 36th Street N offers excellent dining, shopping, and entertainment. The LRT system, which connects residents to other parts of the city, can also be accessed from Dover.
