Eau Claire, Calgary is a neighborhood located immediately north of the downtown area. If you’re looking for a community with lots to see and do, look no further than Eau Claire. It is home to shopping venues, restaurants, hotels, a large public plaza, and other convenient amenities. Eau Claire is also a quick walk from downtown Calgary, so it’s ideal if you work downtown and want to live within walking distance of your office.


Eau Claire, Calgary was developed on reclaimed industrial land. It is adjacent to the downtown commercial core, south of the Bow River, and north of 3rd Avenue. The neighborhood was named after a company that used to operate in the area in the early days, the Eau Claire Lumber Company. Located on the banks of the Bow River, Eau Claire was chosen by the sawmill industry because of its easy access to fallen timber.

Real Estate

Eau Claire, Calgary boasts some of the finest luxury condominiums in the entire city. Most of the real estate in Eau Claire is comprised of high-rise condo towers, but there are also some townhomes and low-rise condos in the area. The high-rise condos in Eau Claire offer amazing views of the Bow River Valley, Rocky Mountains, and Calgary skyline. Currently, less than 40% of the properties in Eau Claire are occupied by renters.

Parks and Recreation

Just north of Eau Claire is Prince’s Island Park, an urban park located on an island in the Bow River. Prince’s Island Park features flower gardens, water fountains, open green spaces, a lagoon, and pathways. The park’s a hub of activity year-round. Popular activities include cross-country skiing, cycling, and picnicking. In the summertime, many festivals are held at the park, including the Calgary Folk Music Festival and Shakespeare in the Park. Eau Claire, Calgary is also located right near the extensive pathway system along the Bow River. In addition, rsidents of Eau Claire have convenient access to several fitness clubs and facilities, including the Eau Claire YMCA.


Eau Claire, Calgary is home to a variety of pubs, stores, hotels, and restaurants. Its mall, Eau Claire Market, is an indoor playground with shops, cinemas, and a food court. In addition, Eau Claire is close to the Kensington Village shopping district, which has been voted Calgary’s #1 shopping district. Eau Claire’s Festival District is home to Eau Claire Plaza, which is currently undergoing redevelopment so that it can be integrated more efficiently with Prince’s Island and surrounding businesses. As part of this plan, the Eau Claire Market will also be demolished and rebuilt.
