If you’re looking for a fun neighborhood that is conveniently located and offers a variety of recreational opportunities, check out Erin Woods. Erin Woods, Calgary is a residential area located in the southeast quadrant of the city. The land was annexed by the City of Calgary in 1961, but it wasn’t established as a neighborhood for another 20 years.

Erin Woods has a population of around 7,000 people. The area boasts amazing views of the Rocky Mountains and myriad recreational activities. Erin Woods also offers convenient access to the rest of the city because of its proximity to major transportation routes. If you want to live close to the action without sacrificing a tranquil atmosphere and spacious single family home, Erin Woods is a great place to live.


Erin Woods, Calgary is located on the eastern edge of the city. It is bounded by 52nd Street E to the east, Peigan Trail to the south, and the Canadian National Railway tracks to the north and west. Erin Woods is a popular neighborhood for those who have jobs in the Odgen and Foothills industrial areas. The community is located near 52nd Avenue, which is connected to major transportation routes that afford quick access to other parts of the city. Erin Woods is served by Erin Woods Elementary School.

Real Estate

Erin Woods, Calgary consists mostly of single family homes, including everything from starter homes on the eastern side of the neighborhood to larger homes near the railway tracks on the western side of the neighborhood. Only 0.5% of the buildings in the neighborhood are condominiums or apartments, and around 80% of Erin Woods’ residents are homeowners.

Parks and Recreation

Erin Woods, Calgary boasts plenty of fields and open spaces. The Erin Woods Community Centre features ample green space, baseball diamonds, a playground, an indoor soccer field, outdoor soccer fields, meeting rooms, and a skating rink. Programs offered at the community centre include children’s programs, jellybean dances, softball, adult slo-pitch, indoor and outdoor soccer, and bingo. The community centre also has a Euchre night, which is unique in Calgary because the blind are allowed to participate with Braille cards. Several special events, such as the Stampede Stomp and craft fairs, are held in the community on an annual basis.

Residents of Erin Woods also have access to the East Calgary Twin Arenas, the Calgary Soccer Centre to the south, and Elliston Park, which is located about one kilometer to the northeast. Elliston Park is home to a 50-acre storm water lake, pathways, picnic tables, a rose garden, and a playground.
