Evergreen, Calgary is a well-to-do residential neighborhood located in the southwest quadrant of the city. It is home to nearly 11,500 residents. The
community is comprised of two sections: the older neighborhood of Evergreen Estates and the newer neighborhood of Evergreen. The two neighborhoods
have separate community associations. Streets in the community that start with “Evergreen” are served by the Shawnee-Evergreen Community
Association, while the rest of the community is served by the Calgary Evergreen Community Association.

Construction in Evergreen, Calgary didn’t begin until the 1980s. The neighborhood, which is oriented to young families, features 5,400 single family
homes ranging in price from the low $300,000’s to around $2 million. There are also around 1,300 condos in the area, with prices starting in the low-
$200,000 range. Only 1.3% of the housing in the neighborhood is used for renting.
Parks and Recreation
Evergreen, Calgary is situated right along Fish Creek Provincial Park, which has recreational pathways that link to the Bow River pathway system to the
east. Fish Creek Provincial Park is one of the largest urban parks in North America. It features archaeological sites and bison kill sites, as well as areas
of mixed forest and prairie.
Major recreational facilities near Evergreen, Calgary include the South Fish Creek Recreation Centre, which has an ice arena; the YMCA, which features
two wave pools; the Trico Centre, which features a 13,500-square-foot fitness centre; and the Southland Leisure Centre, which has a water park. Golfers
who live in Evergreen can perfect their swing at the Shawnee Slopes Golf Course, which is located in the heart of the community.
