Fairview, Calgary is located in the southeast quadrant of the city. It is a mature neighborhood that was annexed by Calgary in 1956. The eastern part of the community is comprised of an industrial park, while the western part is primarily residential.

Fairview has a population of around 3,700 people. Highlights of living in Fairview include its affordable housing and convenient location near shopping venues, public transit, and major transportation routes that lead to the downtown area.


Fairview is bounded by Macleod Trail to the west, Glenmore Trail to the north, Blackfoot Trail to the east, and Heritage Drive to the south. Fairmont Drive bisects the community from north to south. Macleod Trail offers quick access to the downtown area. The Bow River and its extensive pathway system are situated along the eastern portion of the community.

Real Estate

Fairview, Calgary offers both single family homes and condominiums at affordable prices. The neighborhood displays an array of architectural styles and much of its real estate dates back to the 1960’s and 1970’s. Over 70% of Fairview’s residents are homeowners.

Recreation and Amenities

Fairview, Calgary offers easy access to the shopping facilities and restaurants along Macleod Trail. Northwest of the community is Chinook Centre, which features over 200 stores. Deerfoot Trail is located to the east, offering residents of Fairview quick access to the amenities of the downtown area, as well as the city’s airport. Glenmore Trail, which is located to the north, allows Fairview residents to escape to the mountains while bypassing the city’s core.

Fairview, Calgary is served by the Fairview Community Association. Programs that the Fairview Community Association runs include Block Watch, a volunteer-based Seniors Snow Shoveling program, and a Babysitter’s listing. Baseball, hockey, soccer, and other sports programs are organized by outside sports associations. Annual events held by Fairview’s community association include an annual Spring Fling clean up, craft sales, garage sales, and a tour of Christmas lights.

Fairview is served by two public schools, one of which is bilingual. The Fairview Arena, which used to be run by the Fairview Community Association, is also located within the neighborhood. Overall, Fairview is a popular place for young families to live because of its plentiful recreational programs, affordable housing, and convenient location. If you’re just starting out and are looking for a neighborhood with affordable real estate, Fairview is well worth a consideration. It’s got just about everything you’d want from a community without the exorbitant price tag.
