Forest Heights, Calgary is an inner-city neighborhood located in the southeast quadrant of the city. Forest Heights is one of the most diverse communities in the entire city. It is an ideal place for young families and first-time buyers to live because of its affordable real estate. Development in Forest Heights began in 1959, but the community wasn’t annexed by the city till 1961.


Forest Heights, Calgary is bounded by Marlborough in the north, Penbrooke Meadows in the east, Forest Lawn and Erin Woods in the south, Albert Park and Radisson Heights in the west. The neighborhood is located on a gentle, rolling landscape at a high elevation, so its homes offer stunning views of both the city and the Rocky Mountains. Residents of Forest Heights, Calgary can access the downtown area directly via 17th Avenue and Memorial Drive. There are both public and separate schools in the area, as well as several shopping centres.

Real Estate

Just across Barlow Trail and at the west end of Forest Heights is the Max Bell Arena, where you can watch sporting events and concerts.

Forest Heights, Calgary is an ideal place for families to live because the community association organizes an array of events for children and families. It has been somewhat challenging for the association to organize events and activities that appeal to its diverse population, however.

Programs regularly offered in the community include jellybean dances, hockey, Boy Scouts, bingo, and a 50+ club. In addition, the community association organizes a Stampede breakfast each year. Recreational amenities that are available in the community include baseball diamonds and a skating rink. In the near future, the community association also plans to build new barbecues, a horseshoe pit, a skate shack, a changing room, a garage area, and concessions in the neighborhood.
