Forest Lawn, Calgary is an inner-city neighborhood that’s located in the southeast quadrant of the city. The community has a population of nearly 8,000 and boasts a rich history, as it was first settled in the early 1900s by homesteaders. Forest Lawn, Calgary is a great place to live if you want to have easy access to shops, restaurants, and schools. It was one of the first communities in Calgary to get its own Wi-Fi internet service.


Forest Lawn, Calgary bordered by 8th Avenue in the north, 48th Street in the east, 26th Avenue in the south, and 36th Street in the west. The neighborhood is bisected by 17th Avenue, along which you’ll find many shops, restaurants, and commercial developments. Forest Lawn is also located close to major transportation routes, a regional park, and the Bow River. It is just six kilometers away from the downtown area, so residents who work downtown can enjoy hassle-free commutes. The LRT System is also accessible in neighboring communities.

Real Estate

The homes in Forest Lawn, Calgary display a variety of architectural styles. Furthermore, because of Forest Lawn’s location on gently rolling landscape at a high elevation, the homes offer amazing views of both the city below and the Rocky Mountains in the distance. The community is mostly made up of single family homes, but there are also some multi-unit condominiums on 36th Street and 17th Avenue. Nearly 60% of the housing in Forest Lawn, Calgary is occupied by renters.


Forest Lawn, Calgary is home to both public and separate schools, including Jack James High School and Forest Lawn High School. 36th Street connects Forest Lawn to Marlborough Mall and several other shopping and entertainment venues. Forest Lawn is also home to the 17th Avenue commercial district, which is known as International Avenue because of the abundance of Asian markets, eateries, and shops there.

Parks and Recreation

Forest Lawn, Calgary is located near several large parks. The Bow River is also close by, so residents of Forest Lawn have easy access to the Bow River recreational pathways. Just across Barlow Trail, at the west end of Albert Park, is the Max Bell Arena, which is used for sporting events and concerts. Recreational amenities located within the community include an indoor ice arena, indoor pool, and outdoor pool.

Forest Lawn’s community association offers a variety of programs for community residents. The area’s community centre is a popular meeting place, where residents can enjoy activities like darts and bingo. The community center also features a Torch Lounge, which is open every day except Thursday and Sunday. The Torch Lounge has pool tables, darts, and shuffleboard. Forest Lawn’s community association also hosts special events each year, such as the Stampede Breakfast, which features free food, entertainment, beer gardens, softball, and a jumping tent for the kids.
