Greenwood, Calgary is a residential area located in the northwest quadrant of the city. The community primarily consists of a mobile home park called Greenwood Village. It is bounded by the Trans-Canada Highway to the south, the Bow River to the north, Stoney Trail to the west, and the community of Bowness to the east. Together with the neighboring community of Greenbriar, Greenwood has a population of around 983 people. Nearly 30% of the residents of Greenwood come from low income households, and around 11% of them are renters.

Real Estate

All of the housing in Greenwood, Calgary is comprised of single family homes and mobile homes. Greenwood is known for having affordable real estate, so itís an ideal neighborhood for families with low to moderate incomes. Greenwood is also a popular place to live because it is conveniently located near major arterial routes.


There are several quality public and separate schools in the Greenwood area, including Bowness High School. Residents of Greenwood can get their shopping done at nearby Market Mall, which features over 200 shops and services, including American Apparel, H&M, and lululemon athletica.

Parks and Recreation

Whenever residents of Greenwood, Calgary feel like going on a mountain retreat in the Rockies, they can take the Trans-Canada Highway to Banff. Bowness Park is located in the neighboring community of Bowness. Bowness Park features several shallow lagoons that are popular for ice skating in the winter and paddling in the summer. Bowness Park is also a great place to have picnics in the summertime. The park features fire pits, picnic tables, bike paths, foot paths, and green space. Also nearby are Canada Olympic Park, which features state-of-the-art recreational facilities, and the Canada Olympic Hall of Fame Museum.

Other amenities near Greenwood that offer recreational opportunities for residents include Shouldice Park, Edworthy Park, and Bowmont Park. Shouldice Park features an indoor swimming pool, indoor ice arena, baseball diamonds, and a batting cage. The cityís pathway system, the Bow River, and the Bow River recreational pathway system are also close to Greenwood. The Bow River is a popular spot for fishing and boating.

Greenwood, Calgary is served by the Bowness Community Association, which organizes a variety of activities and special events for residents. Activities that community members can participate in include satellite bingo, figure skating, and hockey. The areaís community hall features a stage, indoor and outdoor rinks, playing fields, and meeting rooms. Special events held each year in Greenwood, Calgary include the Bowness Stampede Stomp, which features a parade and a Stampede Breakfast.
