Hillhurst, Calgary is a historic, inner-city neighborhood located just north of the downtown area. Over 6,000 people call Hillhurst home. Established in
1914, Hillhurst is one of the older neighborhoods in Calgary. In recent years, Hillhurst has undergone significant development. It has become a vibrant
community where residents have access to a variety of recreational and commercial opportunities. Hillhurst, Calgary is also a popular area because of its
proximity to the University of Calgary, SAIT, and the Foothills Medical Centre, among other amenities. If you want to live somewhere that’s close to work
and features plenty of opportunities for shopping and recreation, Hillhurst is the perfect place to call home.
Location
Hillhurst, Calgary is bounded by 8th Avenue N and 16th Avenue N to the north, 10th Street W to the east, the Bow River to the south, 14th Street W and 18th Street W to the west. The community borders SAIT to the northeast and is located northwest of and across from the Bow River. There’s also a C- Train station in the area.
Real Estate
Hillhurst, Calgary features a wide range of real estate. The neighborhood consists of a mixture of historic homes built for soldiers returning home from WWII, new infills, condos, and townhomes. Nearly 50% of the housing in Hillhurst is comprised of condos or apartments. More than half of the population in Hillhurst consists of renters.
The first homesteads appeared in the Hillhurst area in the 1880s. In 1907, lots of 25 feet sold for about $300 each. Today, single family homes in Hillhurst, Calgary sell for anywhere from $300,000 to $2 million, while condos range in price from $200,000 to $600,000.

One of the biggest perks of living in Hillhurst, Calgary is that it’s located near the trendy Kensington shopping district and the North Hill Mall.
