Located in Calgary’s northwest, Hounsfield Heights is one of the oldest communities in the city. The area was subdivided and annexed in 1906, but it
wasn’t established as a neighborhood until 1953. Hounsfield Heights is named after Georgina Hounsfield Riley, who first settled there with her husband
Thomas Riley and their children in 1888. Their home, which was called the Hounsfield Lodge, was situated where Bethany Care Centre is now located.
Location
Hounsfield Heights, Calgary is located on a natural escarpment, so it offers stunning views of downtown Calgary and the Rockies. The community is situated north of Hillhurst and West Hillhurst. It is bounded by 16th Avenue N (Trans Canada Highway) to the north; 14th Street W to the east; 8th Avenue N to the south; and 12th Avenue N, Juniper Road, Crowchild Trail, 22nd Street W to the west. Hounsfield Heights is located close to major transportation routes, so you can access the downtown area or the Rockies with ease. The Lions Park C-Train station is also located within the community.

The real estate in Hounsfield Heights, Calgary mostly consists of single family homes, but there are also low-rise and high-rise condominiums and townhomes in the area.
