Looking for a mature, affordable community with plenty of green space? Kelvin Grove, Calgary is a neighborhood in the city’s southwest sector that is home to approximately 2,270 residents. Established in 1960, Kelvin Grove is located just minutes away from some of the city’s best parks and recreational pathways. Because of its location near major thoroughfares, Kelvin Grove offers convenient access to the downtown area and other parts of the city.

Location

Kelvin Grove is bounded by Glenmore Trail to the north, Elbow Drive to the east, 75th Avenue S to the south, 14th Street W to the west. Residents of Kelvin Grove, Calgary have access to major roadways, like 14th Street, Glenmore Trail, Crowchild Trail, and MacLeod Trail, so they can get around the city with ease. Kelvin Grove is located just 5.5 kilometers south of the city center. Several LRT stations on the south leg are also nearby.

Real Estate

Kelvin Grove, Calgary offers a wide range of mid-priced real estate, from modern condos to executive homes to ranchers. The single family homes and townhomes in the neighborhood were built between the 1950s and the 1970s. Kelvin Grove has a home ownership rate of nearly 60%.

Parks and Recreation

Kelvin Grove, Calgary is served by the Chinook Park-Kelvin Grove-Eagle Ridge Community Association. The association organizes a variety of programs for residents in the area, like yoga, wood carving, highland dancing, soccer, tennis, and hockey. Special events held in the community each year include a Halloween party, skating party, and an evening dinner/dance. The area’s community centre is located next to Henry Wise Wood High School. The ice rinks adjacent to it are used for inline skating in the summertime.

At the neighborhood’s core is Kelvin Grove Park. Nearby parks and recreational facilities include Glenmore Athletic Park, Weaselhead Flats Hiking Trails, and Glenmore Reservoir. There is a sailing club on the east shore and south shore of Glenmore Reservoir. There’s also an indoor ice arena on Heritage Drive and a waterslide park beside Macleod Trail. In addition, the Family Leisure Centre is located to the east, the Southland Leisure Centre is located to the west, and Heritage Park is located just west of 14th Street. Residents of Kelvin Grove, Calgary can also access the Calgary Golf & Country Club via Elbow Drive in the north.

Kelvin Grove, Calgary is served by Chinook Park Bilingual Elementary and Henry Wise Wood Senior High.
