Kingsland, Calgary is a small, residential neighborhood located in the southwest quadrant of the city. This mature community was annexed to the city in 1956 and established in 1957. It has a population of around 4,500 people. Kingsland is a popular place to live because it is conveniently located near major transportation routes, schools, and parks. From great shopping to fun recreational opportunities, Kingsland residents have access to an assortment of convenient amenities.

Location

Kingsland, Calgary is located near the city’s major transportation routes, so it offers residents convenient access to the downtown area and other parts of the city. Kingsland is bounded by Glenmore Trail to the north, Macleod Trail to the east, Heritage Drive to the south, and Elbow Drive to the west. Kingsland’s residents also have easy access to the south “Anderson” leg of the LRT system.

Most of the homes in Kingsland, Calgary were built between the 1950s and 1970s. The neighborhood features 800 single family homes and 604 condos and townhomes. Parks and Recreation

Recreational facilities that are accessible to residents in Kingsland include playing fields and an outdoor skating rink. Kingsland’s Community Hall can accommodate up to 100 people and features a kitchen, deck, and play school. The Kingsland Community Association organizes a variety of activities for residents, including sports programs, fitness classes, and dance classes.

Glenmore Reservoir, which is popular for boating, is also located near Kingsland. There is a sailing club on the east shore and south shore of the reservoir. Heritage Park Historical Village, which is Canada’s largest living history museum, is situated just west of 14th Street. Calgary Golf & Country Club is accessible via Elbow Drive in the north. In addition, there’s a waterslide park beside Macleod Trail and an indoor ice arena on Heritage Drive. Other recreational facilities in the area include the Family Leisure Centre to the east and the Southland Leisure Centre to the west.
