MacEwan, Calgary, also known as MacEwan Glen, is a suburban, low-density neighborhood located in the cityís northwest quadrant. Established in 1982, MacEwan is a relatively mature community thatís surrounded by green space. Nose Hill Park is located directly to the south of the community. The land to the north of the community is used for grazing, cultivation, and other agricultural purposes. MacEwan is home to approximately 5,400 residents.

Location

MacEwan, Calgary is bounded by Berkshire Boulevard to the south, Country Hills Boulevard to the north, 14th Street W to the east, and Shaganappi Trail to the west. Stoney Trail and Deerfoot Trail are nearby, so residents can get to the airport and other parts of the city with ease.

MacEwan, Calgary is located on an upward plateau surrounded by land that gradually slopes. Communities that neighbor MacEwan include Edgemont, Hidden Valley, and the Hamptons. Despite the fact that itís surrounded by large communities, MacEwan continues to maintain a small town feel.

Real Estate

MacEwan, Calgary is made up of mostly single family residential homes. The prices of homes in MacEwan are generally in the low to mid-$400s. The neighborhood has a home ownership rate of over 90%. Many parts of the community are located at a high elevation, so the homes offer wonderful views of the city and mountains.

If you want nature to be right at your doorstep, MacEwan is a great place to call home. The area boasts ample green space, so it offers a refreshing respite from the crowds and commotion of the cityís centre.

Amenities

There are no schools within MacEwan, Calgary itself, but schools located in neighboring communities include Sandstone Elementary, Simons Valley Elementary, and Monsignor Neville Anderson Elementary. Because of MacEwanís central location, residents also have easy access to several shopping plazas, such as Market Mall, Beddington Towne Centre, and Beacon Hill Shopping Centre.

Parks and Recreation

MacEwan, Calgary offers an abundance of recreational opportunities because it is surrounded by nature. Recreational areas that are located in close proximity to MacEwan include Nose Hill Park, Confluence Park, and the Calgary Winter Club. Nose Hill Park is one of the largest municipal parks in North America and features native grasslands, wildlife, and archaeological sites. Confluence Park, which is also known as West Nose Creek Park, features a creek, trails, pathways, and native grassland. The Calgary Winter Club is a premier athletic club with facilities for badminton, bowling, aquatics, and more.

The Nose Hill recreational pathway system, which connects to small parks throughout the area, is also accessible to Nose Hill residents. In addition, residents who enjoy golf can go to the nearby Country Hills Golf Course to hone their game.
