McKenzie Towne, Calgary is a family-friendly, residential community in Calgary that has a small town atmosphere and old-style homes. This renowned community was selected as one of the top 26 master planned communities in the world by the Urban Land Institute. The neighborhood features a picturesque town square with a 92-foot clock tower and Victorian bandshell, as well as numerous parks and an abundance of green space.

Since McKenzie Towne is designed to be like a small town, it is complete with important amenities, including schools, retail shops, churches, and senior care facilities. The design of the McKenzie Towne neighborhood puts people first, so there is a true feeling of neighborliness there.


McKenzie Towne, Calgary is bounded by Deerfoot Trail to the west, Marquis de Lorne Trail to the south, 52nd Street SE to the east, and South Trail Regional Community Centre along 130th Avenue SE to the north. The neighborhood, which is located in southeast Calgary, is well-connected to major roadways in the city, allowing for quick commutes to other parts of the city.

McKenzie Towne, Calgary features a mix of single family homes, apartments, and town homes. The neighborhood is divided into three areas: Elgin, Inverness & Prestwick, and High Street. Elgin’s homes boast European-style architecture, while the homes in Inverness & Prestwick feature Victorian, Georgian, and Craftsman styles. McKenzie Towne, Calgary is served by St. Albert the Great Elementary/Junior High and McKenzie Towne Elementary. The McKenzie Town Hall houses a gymnasium, as well as meeting and banquet facilities. Near the town hall, there is green space, paved trails, ponds, and a splash park. McKenzie Towne is also near Fish Creek Park and several golf courses. High Street, McKenzie Towne’s shopping district, is reminiscent of a small town main street and features a major grocery store, as well as a variety of shops and boutiques. Nearby South Trail Crossing is ideal for more extensive shopping trips.
