Silver Springs

If you’re looking for a family-friendly neighborhood that is surrounded by natural beauty and offers an abundance of recreational opportunities, Silver Springs, Calgary is a great community for you. Silver Springs is a residential neighborhood located in the city’s northwest quadrant. It was developed between 1972 and 1980 and has a population of around 9,330. Situated on the north bluff of the Bow River, Silver Springs offers stunning views of the Rockies and Canada Olympic Park.


Silver Springs, Calgary is bounded by Crowchild Trail to the north, Sarcee Trail to the east, Bow River to the south, and Nose Hill Drive to the west. The Silver Springs Golf Course is located in the eastern part of the community. To the south of the community is the Bowmont Natural Area.

Real Estate

Silver Springs, Calgary is a family-oriented community that is comprised of mostly single family homes. There are also some condos and townhomes available in the area. Prices for homes in the area range from the mid-$200,000s to the mid-$400,000s. The neighborhood has a home ownership of approximately 84%. In addition, Silver Springs boasts an abundance of trees and greenery.


Silver Springs, Calgary is home to many excellent schools. The community is served by Silver Springs Elementary and W.O. Mitchell Elementary, which are public schools, and St. Sylvester Elementary, which is a separate school. There are two commercial centres in Silver Springs: one is situated on the western end of Silver Springs Boulevard and one is located north of “The Gully.”

Parks and Recreation

Silver Springs, Calgary is near many recreational venues. The section of the Bowmont Natural Area that borders the community to the south is known as “The Gully” to residents and boasts a number of recreational opportunities. The Silver Springs Golf Course, which is located on the eastern edge of Silver Springs, is a par 72 golf course that was designed by Dick Phelps. The golf course features a clubhouse and boasts wildlife viewing opportunities and abundant natural beauty.

Silver Springs, Calgary has an active community centre that features two skating rinks and outdoor pools. Classes offered at the community centre include yoga, meditation, fitness, and painting. The community centre also hosts a preschool, afterschool care program, and Plus 55 Club for seniors. Members of the Plus 55 Club meet on a regular basis to play cards and socialize. Sports programs offered to residents of Silver Springs include soccer, softball, and baseball.
