Symons Valley, Calgary is the name of an urban residential area located in the northwest quadrant of the city. Symons Valley encompasses the
communities of Kincora, Sherwood, Evanston, Sage Hill, and Nolan Hill. The neighborhood is home to over 54,000 residents and borders the northern city
Symons Valley was annexed to the city in 1989 and is situated on 1,370 hectares of land. The City of Calgary has designed a blueprint for the area’s
future development to ensure that the five communities that make up Symons Valley remain strong and cohesive.
Symons Valley, Calgary is bounded by 144th Avenue NW to the north, Stoney Trail NW to the south, 14th Street NW to the east, and Sarcee Trail NW to
the west. The area boasts an abundance of parks and green space to explore, as well as quick access to the Calgary International Airport and other
parts of the city.
Symons Valley, Calgary features a diverse mix of real estate, including everything from apartments and starter homes to move-up homes and executive
estate homes. The most predominant type of housing in Symons Valley is single family detached homes.
Symons Valley, Calgary is picturesque and features homes that offer stunning views of the Rockies. It is a high-density residential area that is
pedestrian-oriented. Developers that have designed communities in the area include Genesis Land Development, Qualico Developments, United
Communities, and Apex Land.
On the west side of Symons Valley, next to Sarcee Trail NW, there’s a business park that provides a diversity of employment opportunities to area
residents. The business park also provides an assortment of useful goods and services. The communities of Symons Valley are linked to the business
park via pedestrian pathways, so driving a car is often unnecessary for residents.
Symons Valley, Calgary is served by the BRT system and each community in the area has its own BRT station. There are also several commercial centres
located in the core of Symons Valley, as well as on its periphery. These bustling commercial areas feature department stores, grocery stores, big box
retailers, and more.
Parks and Recreation
Symons Valley, Calgary boasts lots of natural open space. Furthermore, the neighborhood is intersected by West Nose Creek and its ravines and
escarpments. Not only do these natural features provide recreational opportunities, they also provide incredible wildlife viewing opportunities and connect
residents to the city’s recreational pathway system. Additionally, Symons Valley is home to many playgrounds, parks, and recreational facilities. The
area’s community centres are located near the schools, or sometimes even attached to them.
