Taradale

Looking for an affordable, family-oriented community in Calgary? Taradale is a residential neighborhood located on the far northeastern edge of Calgary’s built-up area. It has a quiet, small-town atmosphere, yet it is conveniently located in proximity to the city’s amenities.

Although Taradale was annexed by the city in 1961, it wasn’t established as a neighborhood until 1984. Taradale has a population of nearly 3,000. It is primarily a low-density residential community and most of the land in the area is undeveloped. Taradale is also known for being home to Taralake, a scenic lakeside community that offers a diversity of recreational opportunities.

Location

Taradale, Calgary is bordered by Taradale Drive to the north, 68th Street to the east, 64th Avenue to the south, and Falconridge Boulevard to the west. The Calgary International Airport is located to the west of Taradale.

Taradale is also well-connected to the city’s major roads, which allow you to leave town quickly and easily. The topography of the community is flat for the most part, but there is a gradual slope from the northeast to the southwest.

Real Estate

Taradale, Calgary is a low-density residential community that features mostly single family starter homes and move-up homes. The neighborhood has a home ownership rate of over 89%. Prices for apartments in Taradale start in the high $100,000s, while prices for townhomes and single family homes in the area start in the high $200,000s.

Amenities

Taradale, Calgary is served by Taradale Elementary School, which is a K-6 school. Because it is located near several major roads, Taradale’s residents have quick access to shopping and amenities throughout the city. Shopping centres located in proximity to Taradale include Castle Ridge Plaza, McKnight Village, Taradale Co-op, and Village Square Shopping Centre.

Parks and Recreation

Taradale, Calgary features a number of parks, as well as a toboggan hill. It is also located just a short distance away from Prairie Winds Park, a 40-acre park in the neighboring community of Castleridge that features playgrounds, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, a toboggan hill, and more. Taralake, which is situated on the northeastern edge of the community, features a beach volleyball court and a network of recreational pathways.

At the time of writing, there are plans to build a 17-acre joint-use park east of Martindale Boulevard on Martin Crossing Park. The park will have baseball diamonds, basketball courts, an outdoor hockey rink, a community centre, and soccer fields. Taradale is served by the Taradale Community Association.
