Are you looking for a large, family-friendly community that’s located close to important amenities? If this sounds like you, Temple, Calgary may be just the right neighborhood for your needs. Temple, Calgary is located in the northeast quadrant of Calgary. The area was annexed by the City of Calgary in 1961, but didn’t develop until 1977.

When Temple was established, it was called “The Properties.” Eventually, “The Properties” was divided into the four separate communities of Temple, Rundle, Whitehorn, and Pineridge. Temple has a population of 11,000 people.

Location

Temple, Calgary is bounded by McKnight Boulevard to the north, 68th Street E to the east, 32nd Street N to the south, and 52nd Street E to the west. Temple is located in close proximity to the Calgary International Airport and Northeast Industrial areas, both of which supply a breadth of employment opportunities to local residents.

Real Estate

Temple, Calgary is a low-density residential community that offers a wide range of homes for sale, including townhomes, low-rise apartments, and single family detached homes. Over 77% of the neighborhood’s population consists of renters.

Amenities

Temple, Calgary is served by Annie Foote Elementary and Guy Weadick Elementary, both of which are public schools, and Father Scollen Elementary & Junior High, which is a separate school. For shopping and movies, Temple residents can head to the movie theatres at London Town Centre and Marlborough Mall. Along 32nd Avenue and 36th Street NE, there are many restaurants, most of which are chain establishments.

Parks and Recreation

Temple, Calgary is a popular neighborhood amongst families and those who lead an active lifestyle. The area boasts several large parks, such as Prairie Winds Park, which features an outdoor pool, baseball diamonds, picnic sites, and more. Other recreational venues in the area include the Village Square Leisure Centre, which has a wave pool and an array of other recreational facilities. There are also many regional bike paths in the area. In addition, the city-owned McCall Lake Golf Course is located west of Temple, on 32nd Avenue and before Deerfoot Trail.

The community centre in Temple, Calgary hosts several activities and programs, including Brownies, Cubs, Scouts, sports, preschool, first aid, and babysitting classes. Recreational facilities that the Temple Community Association maintains in the neighborhood include a basketball court, all-season rink, and tennis court. Special events held in Temple on a regular basis include jellybean dances for kids, monthly dances for adults, and Temple Days, which are fun family events that take place each June.
